Right now in Ondo State, the drums are sounding. Everywhere you go in the Sunshine State, you cannot but see songs of joy pouring forth from excited mouths, just as millions of legs sway to the rhythm in absolute delight. Across the length and breadth of Ondo State, today is a day of celebration. The people are exultant, and they are not hiding their excitement.
The ecstasy didn’t even commence today. In the past days across the state, men and women, the young, the not-so-young and the elderly have been exhibiting an inexplicable cheerfulness. And even visitors to the state seem to have been infected by the convivial air.
The reasons are not far to seek. Today, February 24, 2012 marks the third anniversary of the Olusegun Mimiko administration in the state.
