According to Sun newspaper reports, Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, John Clark Dabwan on Tuesday escaped death by the whiskers when some gunmen attacked a church in Jos South Local Government Area during an evening crusade, demanding for him. The men, who were about 10, invaded the Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria (CRUDAN), shooting at random and
demanding the whereabouts of the Speaker.

The report further stated that nine persons sustained gunshot wounds during the melee and are presently receiving treatment at the Plateau Specialist Hospital. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen entered into the centre, just after the speaker drove into the premises, demanding for him.
