Security Agencies Are Not Doing Anything About Boko Haram - Ribadu

Former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Mallam Nuhu Ribadu believes the government is “complacent” in dealing with the Boko Haram sect. To him, the security agencies are not doing enough about the sect’s activities, which he yesterday described as “a very sad thing.”

“If I were Boko Haram, I would be very happy with the complacency,” Ribadu said during a question and answer session after delivering this year’s Management Day Lecture of the Nigerian Institute of Management  (NIM) (Chartered) in Lagos.

“Nobody is doing anything,” Ribadu, a lawyer and retired police chief, added. He spoke on the topic: National Development and Mismanagement: Forces at Opposite Roles.

I want to agree with Nuhu Ribadu on this, because these guys are doing all they are doing at will. May God help us in Nigeria, but mallam if there is anything you can as well do to put things in place, please make your contributions and do not just criticise, abeg.

  1. He did not say that at the event.
Ribadu said it was unfortunate that “years of mismanagement and inept leadership have led to the social and political dislocation in the country. If we were to subject this result to the standards of strict business judgments, there ought to be consequences for this type of result. Every manager knows that his or her longevity at the head of a corporate organisation is as certain as the continued satisfaction of the shareholder to executive performance.”

He urged that the best solution to the challenges was not in the disintegration or separation of the country, pleading that Nigerians should be optimistic and emulate the spirit of brotherhood, to unite and collectively fight the scourge of corruption, insecurity and Boko Haram, among others as one.
