Ngozi Iweala As World Bank President And The Nigerian Economy

As the co-ordinating minister of the National Economic Management Team is expected to be named the new World Bank President, I can not help but wonder what would the next direction of our economy. Yes what would become the direction of our economy, this is because of the type of people leading us from the top. I am sure by now certain politicians have identified some lapses and will be planning to capitalise on her absence to loot our treasury as usual. I am not saying we do not have capable minds and hands to steer the wheels of our economy, but how many of them really have the interest of we the masses at heart?

Other questions I want to ask are: Who will take over from her? Will the new person be able to check the excesses of our politicians, CBN Governor and and Luggage carrying contractors in government agency? Will the new person believe in her economic policies and be willing to continue in the direction she started? These are my fears and worries and I hope we will not have to go back to square one, because things are going from bad to worse in the country, poverty rate is aggressively increasing even though the government claims the economy is growing.

And before I forget, I hope they (politicians) will not be zoning her position and base the appointment of her successor on merit? These are my worries.
