Head Of Al-Qaeda In West Africa Is A Kano Based Nigerian?

Yes he is a Nigerian and he is based in Kano. His name is Mallam Adnan Ibrahim and the SSS knew about him as far back as 2004. His second in command who is the Head of Al-Qaeda in Nigeria and had been handed over to SSS by Pakistani Authorities since 2004, his name is Mallam Mohammed Ashafa.

Mallam Mohammed Ashafa was handed over to the SSS by Pakistani Intelligence Agency after he was intercepted at the Pakistani Airport in 2004 and subsequent search and investigation by the Pakistani authorities, revealing that he was a member of the al-Qaeda and was sent to Pakistan by the Resident Chief of al-Qaeda in West Africa, Mallam Ibrahim.

Ashafa, who is a 46-year-old man of about 5.4 in height, under interrogation, admitted his involvement in both national and international acts of terrorism and has not been prosecuted since then. Apart from these two, the Libyan Authorities under Late Col. Gadhafi also handed some Nigerian terrorists over to the Authorities around that same time.

My question now is, why were these guys not prosecuted? why has the government waited till now to prosecute this Mallam Mohammed Ashafa? Where are the other terrorists that were handed over to FG by Libyan government? Could innocent lives have been saved by timely prosecution of these men?
