Meet 12 Year -old Girl with the Longest Hair In The World

Brazil--Natasha Moraes de Andrade, 12, lives in an impoverished shanty town in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and has hair that is 157cm long, nearly as long as she is tall - setting the world record for the Girl with the longest hair.

Natasha spends four hours per week washing her hair and up to an hour-and-a-half brushing it each day. She has to carry it around when she walks, and fold it onto her lap when she sits down.
Her hair, exactly 5 feet, 3 inches long stretches nearly the whole length of her 5-foot-2 frame.
Brazil, along with India, has long led the way in the lucrative global market in human hair. Quality is an important factor. What is known as "virgin hair" - hair that has not has any treatments or colouring - is the most sought-after. A lot of Indian hair - known as remy hair - falls into that category, and has long been popular in the US, China, the UK and other parts of Europe.

Her mother Catarina Moraes de Andrade, 42, said admirers told her never to cut her daughter's beautiful hair as it was so thick and long. Children in her local neighbourhood chant 'Rapunzel, let down your hair' at her window, and passersby frequently take photographs.

Natasha's mother Catarina Moraes de Andrade implored her daughter to cut her hair so that she could join in with the other children 'At the moment she is like a prisoner. She just goes from school to home again,' Mrs Moraes de Andrade said.

"I hope to sell it for $5,500 (£3,500) and refurbish my bedroom. I hope it can give me a new life," said Natasha.
