1 Person Killed In Lagos Island As Idumota Traders Resist CBD Task Force
I am surprised that no media house has reported this incidence. It happened yesterday as Idumota trader fought back what they termed as intimidation by operatives of CBD Task Force, an outfit established by the Lagos State Government. According to an eyewitness account who was there at the time the clash escalated, the Task Force team came as usual to take away the goods of the traders as usual, but little did
they know that they traders were prepared to defend themselves.
Gun shots were heard and a man was lying dead while everybody ran to safety. Mobile policemen fired tear gas to disperse the angry traders, but the witness could not stay there for too long because of her health. Now I think it is time for the state government to call these men to order. They need to be trained on how to respect people and carry out their duties like professionals.
The traders had to fight back, but there are motorists within Lagos Island who are also harassed by these men, yes harassed. A driver in my office had his nose broken by one of these men recently, we almost sent him to jail if not that he pleaded. Men should learn to respect the people they are employed to serve.
