Violence Break Out In Kaduna As Government Reactivates 24 Hour Curfew
Another round of violence broke out in the streets of Kaduna on Tuesday, local media have reported. According to reports, authorities have imposed another 24-hour curfew after the Kaduna State government relaxed the 24-hour curfew it imposed on the state shortly after three churches were bombed in Zaria and Kaduna on Sunday.
Muslims youths took to the streets firing AK-47s, burning tires and destroying at least one church. There were no reports of casualties. Soldiers were seen moving around neighbourhoods "to stop Muslim youths from engaging in reprisal attacks against Christians," local media said.
Violence reportedly broke out in Tundun Wada, Rigasa, Gonin Gora, Dirkaniyya and Panteka.
While the reasons behind this new surge of violence are not clear, it is believed that today's clashes were linked to Sunday's retaliatory attacks following the bombing of the three churches that killed at least 50 people, including reprisal.
