I could not help but contain the rage I felt when I was reading this story in Punch newspaper this morning. The strike is over disagreement over loan obtained by Jetty and Petroleum Tank Farm Owners Association of Nigeria from some banks, to satisfy the demand for fuel importation. According to Punch newspaper,
it was learnt that NUPENG was demanding the implementation of a section of an agreement reached with the Federal Government to allow JEPTFON, a subsidiary association, to pay back the loan in 15 years with three percent interest.
I can't help but wonder why there are queues already at filling stations across the country? I have never heard the Minister of petroleum come out to make a statement on this, nobody in the Department of petroleum resources have also said anything about this. For how long will Nigerians pay for incompetence of certain individuals? For how long will we the masses continue to suffer the inability of the government to appoint individuals who can implement policies without having the masses to suffer for their failures? Now NUPENG threaten to go on strike when the said petroleum products is already scarce, what kind of country do we live in? I don tire abeg
