President Jonathan begs Boko Haram to stop attacks, as sect plans to attack South
                                                  

President Jonathan appealed to groups who have any grieviance against the government to please come out and talk. He went further to state that the country is willing to work with such groups in order to fight the comon enemies of the country, which are: poverty, corruption and unemployment. In his speech according to Punch newspaper, he said “Our nation is today faced with security challenges for which the government is handling.
“We would continue to handle security challenges; it is like every challenging situation.
“When someone gets sick, we must find a way to cure the person.
“We have just been confronted with a number of security challenges. We are working day and night and assure you the good people of Benue and all Nigerians that we would surely overcome it in the shortest possible time.
“To sensibly confront these challenges, it requires our collective vigilance, renewed commitment and faith of patriotic Nigerians with those ideas that bind us together as a people.”

In another related event, security agencies said they have uncovered plot by the sect to expand their bombings to the southern part of the country. According Punch newspaper, the sect believes that their jihad should be extended to the south in order to work on the facet the security is not so tight in the south. they also belive that the sect intends to correct the impression that they have ethnic sentiments.

It has been reported that Muslim leaders in the south have been called upon to inform their followers about the intentions of the sect.
