Real Madrid have won 11 of their 13 games on the road this season, scoring a grand total of 34 goals as visitors. They are the least scored upon side with only eight conceded strikes. Winning on Wednesday would give them the best away record a team has ever had in La Liga.

Real Madrid have found the perfect balance between attack and defence. They work together to avoid surprises and they have the best attacking numbers in Europe, with 89 goals scored in 27 games. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 32 strikes, 14 of which were netted on the road. He is well flanked by Higuain and Benzema, who have 17 and 14 goals under their belts, respectively.

Jose Mourinho has included 20 men on his squad list for the match, which includes Varane and Altintop. Real won 3-1 at El Madrigal close to the end of the previous campaign with a Cristiano Ronaldo brace and a goal by Marcelo.

Villarreal are only three points clear of the relegation zone. Jose Francisco Molina was dismissed as coach last weekend after replacing Juan Carlos Garrido in midseason. Miguel Angel Lotina was presented as the new coach on Monday.

Despite other negative numbers, Villarreal have lost less games at their stadium this year than most other sides in the championship. They have taken 21 of their 27 points at El Madrigal in five victories, six draws and only two defeats. They have also scored 21 goals and conceded 15. Borja Valero has strained a muscle and Marchena is suspended for the match, but Cani has recovered in time for the fixture. Details Courtesy of Realmadrid website
