Nigeria Is On Fire - T.Y Danjuma

According to Channels Tv the retired General made this known while speaking at the 50th birthday celebration of the publisher of Leadership Newspaper at the International Conference Centre in Abuja on Tuesday.

General Danjuma condemned the ongoing insurgency in the northern part of the country, as he warned that the nation is fasting going the way of Somalia as a failed state. “Nigeria is on fire…the North is on fire. Nigeria is becoming like Somalia. The Somalianisation of Nigeria is taking place right now” he said.

Sharing his long drawn optimism about the potential of the nation, Mr Danjuma however noted that some awful occurrence in recent months, questions the optimism and he called on all Nigerians to get to the root of the problem.

“I am an optimist as far as Nigeria is concerned…but in the last two months, I began to wonder, our house in on fire.We have to sit down and face the truth, get to the roots of our problem and find a solution to this problem” he said.
He also called on leaders of the northern region, saying “our house (the north) is on fire.” “Those of us who call ourselves northerners, our house is on fire…let us not deceive ourselves. Let’s tell ourselves the truth and find solution to our problem.” “Right now, Borno is a failed state, Jigawa is almost a failed state. Kano is threatening to be a failed state” the former defence chief stated.

Sir with all due respect you are also a leader what are you doing to ensure that the country that made you what you are today does not fail? At least you were once a Minister of Defence in Nigeria.
