Based on Channels TV news reports, the International Olympics Committee (IOC) has issued a 48-hour deadline to athletes who were eliminated to quit London. The report also states that IOC’s communications director Mark Adams said the move is necessary to allow for effective monitoring of the remaining participants and ensure security for the on-going global sporting showpiece.
A suspect in custody in connection with the murder of Olaitan Oyerinde, the Private Secretary to Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, has reportedly told police interrogators that he was offered N20m for the job. He said he was paid N200,000 as part payment with which he recruited four others.

Police in Kaduna, Balteh Abdulrazaq, has confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that one person died Monday when some unknown gunmen engaged the Police guarding the Zaria residence of Vice President Namadi Sambo in a gun battle.

Soldiers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, yesterday intercepted 20 vehicles conveying almost 200 people, including 103 children suspected to have been trafficked.
JTF Commander Lt-Col. Gabriel Olorunyomi said his men became curious when they discovered that the occupants of the vehicles were mostly children, accompanied by some adults.

It is very sad to know that late President John Atta-Mills died with dedication to serve Ghanians. This is based on a news report I read on Samuel Lobour's blog, the report suggested that the late President ignored doctors' advice to quit his job as Ghana's President. The late president ignored this advice and continued carrying out the duties of a President, he was reportedly rushed to the hospital after he complained of neck pains on Sunday, and unable to participate in church activities that day.

A news report from The Nation newspaper indicates that several persons, mainly youths have been killed in Benin City and its environs in a renewed cult war in the state. Among those killed on Wednesday night was one Nosa Ebohon who just graduated from the University of Benin. He was said to have been shot at the residence of his friend at Ugbowo, an outskirt of Benin City.
Two other victims were shot at Adolor College road in Ugbowo and Zabayor street of Stadium road in Benin City. The report also indicates that one Clifford, popularly known as Lekeleke was shot dead in front of his wife and friend at Okhoro in Benin City.

As he struggled to regain control of the truck, it tipped over to its right side. As the truck fell, it landed on the woman, who was walking beside the road, in search of a commercial bus to her destination. The unnamed woman died instantly.

There are revelations that some of the victims of the Dana crash would have survived, if they had been rescued earlier. The report also revealed that many of the victims died inhaling smoke from the fire. Lagos State Chief Medical Examiner, Prof. John Obafunwa, told a coroner sitting at the Ikeja High Court, on Wednesday. Speaking at the coroner's inquest into the cause of the crash, Obafunwa said some of the victims had died from smoke inhalation.

Following the threat by the House of Representatives that the President would be impeached of the 2012 budget is not fully implemented, the coordinating Minister of the economy, Okonjo-Iweala has said that full implementation of the budget is impossible. There are reports by police authorities that The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a police corporal, Pepple Boma, who allegedly shot a Chief to death while on duty at Makoko waterfront on Saturday. The spokesperson for the command, Ms Ngozi Braide, disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Sunday. She said that the corporal, attached to the Marine Police, Oworonsoki Division in Lagos, was being detained at the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba.
