Gunmen, on Tuesday, killed two persons at two different mosques in Biu, Borno State. An eyewitness at one of the mosques said two assailants joined the mosque for early morning prayers, during which they shot a worshipper dead at a close range. The source added that another group of gunmen trailed a local Islamic cleric to a mosque, where they opened fire on worshippers, killing the cleric on the spot barely two hours after the first incident. “The worshippers had to run for safety. But the cleric was shot dead before men of Joint Task Force, code-named Operation Flush II, arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent further attacks and killings,” the source said
