Just as I have promised to bring you updates and details of the resignation of Pope Benedict, I have found out that the Pope is actually resigning on health grounds, he has styated to local media sources that he does not have the stregnth to continue due to his age. In his words according to media sources, the Pope said "I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to ... exercise of ...ministry."
The Pope will also renounce the office of Bishop of Rome at 8pm on February 28. The last Pope to resign was Pope Gregory XII, who stepped down in 1415.
